Have You Seen The ‘Sex Ambulance’ For Sex Workers?

We have heard a lot recently about sex worker law. In Ireland, this week it became illegal to pay for sex. All this was done in spite of research that said the law would be counter-productive, will force the industry underground, and endanger sex workers. Hell, Amnesty International think it is stupid, and I don’t see too many sex traffickers working there. You would be forgiven for thinking the debate was only heading one way, with more hard antisexwork laws. That is why I was rather delighted to read about the ‘sex ambulance’ in Denmark. What is that you may ask? Well, read on. Continue reading Have You Seen The ‘Sex Ambulance’ For Sex Workers?

Sex Workers and Attacks From The Press

It is safe to say, sex workers get a bad rap in the press. They are either ‘trafficked victims’, or ‘manipulative harlots who are destroying lives’. We know that this narrative is nonsense, with most sex workers being consenting, happy individuals, who are performing a job they love. Yes, there may be issues with individuals on either end of the spectrum, but the press doesn’t want to tell you about the vast majority of sex workers who love what they do, and who are like any other professional worker. The Celebrities Supporting Sex Workers!

The news is pretty horrifying lately. Barely a day goes by without a headline hitting the papers to say that the world we live in is in trouble. When it comes to the topic of sex work, it can be tough. People have their own assumptions about the industry and just what should be done with it. The problem is that most of those proudly and loudly declaring their opinions haven’t actually had any conversations with sex workers. They don’t actually know what would be best for the industry. Why Escorts Are Better Than One Night Stands

Most people have absolutely no idea about what the world of escorting is really like. The media has made them believe that it is just like ‘Pretty Woman’, and that most women in the job are there because they have no choice. They have been forced to sell their souls and their bodies to give abusive, horrid men satisfaction. Their clients are evil men who can’t be bothered taking a shower and going to the pub like a normal person. Instead, they want to pay for sex. This, of course, ignores the fact that the majority of escorts are doing it willingly. They are very select about the clients they see, and the clients know just how lucky they are to spend time with them. Continue reading Why Escorts Are Better Than One Night Stands

Germany In Controversial Sex Work Overhaul

When it comes to sex work law, Germany has been held up by many as the country with the most common sense approach. In 2002 laws were introduced that legitimised the industry, and this has gone down very well with organisations such as Amnesty International, who recently called for the full decriminalisation of sex work. Laura Lee Blog – Funding With a Capital F

Those of you who follow me on Twitter or have met me even once will know my favourite bug bear when it comes to sex workers’ “rescue” organisations is funding. Thousands upon thousands of pounds/Euros are poured into these organisations to “raise awareness”. It really annoys me, when you have women in Dublin in direct provision on nineteen Euros a week selling sex as a survival strategy and NGO’s swanning around in BMW’s, loudly declaring their dedication to help those poor, fallen women.
